UNIVERSITIES charge students high rents
when they lodge their young minds in mere science;
for, very much of what we think we know
proves in the bitter end to not be so.
Science means knowledge and it has branches.
With its double-edged fruit there are chances,
chances like bad wormholes hidden within,
like killer pain after pleasure in sin.
Some slithering teachers with a snake tongue
make innocence a crime, just like Satan.
They say talking snakes are fable or myth,
but they’re snakes! Call an exorcist!
They don’t teach a lost soul how to pray!
For teaching there’s no soul they make you pay.
You can’t reject well-schooled folly too soon.
You’ll learn more from your childhood cartoon,
because then –in the purer days of youth–
we repeatedly learned a sacred truth:
no matter the struggle the hero had,
in the end, good must triumph over bad.
You can throw a seed like trash to the dirt
(you might feel like dying in all your hurt)
but from its grave the seed rises again.
Bury your heart in Jesus Christ! Amen.
We aren’t naked babies now, free from shame.
Eden is lost, and life is not a game.
We must work, sweat, and reproduce with pain.
But at the Cross your loss can be made gain.
THE UNIVERSE (not university)
is a holy book, if your eyes can see.
Nature’s cycles act out a sacred play.
GOD’S DEATH & RESURRECTION they portray.
Daily the sun light, monthly the moon light,
each die and resurrect in their own right.
Winter preaches cursed death to mankind.
Spring sings resurrection into the mind.
The Creator coded creation’s laws.
To Him belongs glory, to us the flaws.
Hear me now, I beg, all you who are wise:
Cry to the Spirit beyond earth and skies!
The same Lawgiver who ordered Nature
offers us sick-souled lawbreakers a cure.
In the depths of your being you must start
to see hero and villain in your heart.
Where villain cravings get the upper hand,
kill them according to God’s good command.
Be a slave to all that you know is right.
You’ll be free from sin and you’ll win the fight.
Beware, dear young hero, of the great lie.
The serpent insists it’s useless to try.
Refuse to believe ignorance is bliss,
for that’s fiery hell’s most seductive kiss.
Here, let it be most clearly understood:
God never once banned knowledge that is good,
but His eternal ban is on mixed bates,
against pretty good lures to evil fates.
Gain knowledge of all that is purely good.
Your sober CONSCIENCE tells you that you should.
Hunger for the words of the Lord Jesus.
Their power does more than merely please us.
Like light rays sent to the earth by the sun,
the Father’s radiance is Christ the son.
He is the end for which your life has begun.
Without Him, chances at heaven are none.
Every heart that’s graced by wisdom from above
will hear God’s Truth and be drawn by His Love.
All wise hearts humbly kneel, though the fool scorns
the Crucified Virgin-born crowned with thorns.
The slain Savior rose, nevermore to die:
ascended sinless to the Throne on high.
He’ll return to judge earth when God deems best.
He waits like a farmer for the harvest.
Sacrifice is not very fun or cute,
but by its bitterness comes sweetest fruit:
truth, honor, justice, purity, and love,
joy, peace, mercy, by new birth from above.
God’s goodness leads sinners to repentance.
All perfect good gifts come at His expense.
So lastly, gratitude is what I stress.
If you find goodness in a meal: confess.
If you taste that goodness then go, make haste.
Make your new life one great copy and paste.
If you see a soul-starved wretch plagued by sin,
call it to that pilgrimage band you’re in.
