A Ghazal
The meaning of Love is the core mystery of Life.
It’s clearly revealed in God’s love for the Church, His wife;
but a certain foul PRIDE in “joy” hides Life’s meaning
that’s only regained by holy sorrow and strife.
Flowers turn to the sun. Beasts look for their mates.
Nature’s groanings for Supernature are rife.
Rain, grain, wine, and a wife, may give us joy
but the Lord Jesus gives eternal life.
